Areas of Rescue phones are designated meeting points within a building where disabled persons or anyone unable to evacuate are to gather to await assistance or rescue. These Areas of Refuge are generally prescribed by various state and local codes and usually enforced by the fire marshal.
Area of Refuge security phone systems provide a means for persons using the Area of Refuge to notify emergency responders of their presence and need for assistance.
In a typical implementation, one of these ADA compliant emergency phones would be installed in each Area of Refuge. Monitoring personnel would notify emergency dispatchers of the need for assistance in evacuating the building. Alternatively, your guards at their guard station could answer these help phones.
